NY-07, NY-10, NY-13: Sanders to Rally With Mamdani to Support Mayor's Congressional Slate
Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s efforts to push a slate of leftist candidates challenging Democratic incumbents in New York City will get a boost next week from a fellow darling of the left.
With early voting set to begin on Saturday and attention turned to four competitive congressional primaries, Mr. Mamdani will be joined by Senator Bernie Sanders at a rally next Thursday at the Kings Theater in Mr. Sanders’s home borough of Brooklyn, according to two people with knowledge of the event.
The rally, the people said, is set to include Mr. Mamdani and the two democratic socialist candidates he has endorsed, Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier, as well as Brad Lander, a former city comptroller and mayoral candidate who cut ties with the Democratic Socialists of America but is running to his opponent’s left. The mayor has helped raise money for his preferred slate and recently appeared in a TV ad with them.
“Last June, New Yorkers from across our city showed up at rallies, canvasses and ballot boxes with a clear message: No longer will politics be done to us. Now it is something that we do,” Mr. Mamdani said in a statement.
