Iran Signals No Deal Will Be Signed by Trump's Sunday Timeline

Iran pushed back on US President Donald Trump’s assertion an interim peace deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was imminent, as an Israeli strike on Lebanon posed a potential new risk to any agreement.

The Islamic Republic said an agreement with the US would not be reached by Trump’s suggested deadline of Sunday, Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported, citing an unidentified official close to the negotiating team. As of Friday, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei hadn’t agreed to the text of the so-called memorandum of understanding, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to Bloomberg.

Adding to tensions, Israel’s military hit the Lebanese capital on Sunday, saying it was targeting Hezbollah after the Iranian-backed group fired more projectiles into northern Israel. Three people were killed and 15 injured in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported.

Iran’s top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said there was “no point” in continuing talks if the US lacked the “will and ability” to fulfill its commitments and stop Israel from bombing Lebanon. The Islamic Republic warned that Israeli attacks on Beirut wouldn’t go “unanswered,” according to state media.

We had a perfectly fine deal with Iran. Now Trump has given a radical Islamist state leverage over the world economy. Way to go Trump!

Trump's position gets weaker every day. Iran understands that. They are bleeding Trump to death.

And they sure as hell aren't going to give him the opportunity to announce a "fantastic deal, the likes of which nobody has ever seen" on the day that he is watching a bunch of morons beating the shit out of each other on the White House lawn.
