(12 posts)Everything Donald Trump has done in his life is a lie. His businesses. His actor personality. And now, his presidency. Even though this isn't surprising, it is a new low even for him. He is doing this war to keep the attention off of the Epstein files and also to enrich his cronies by manipulating the stock market.
The thing is, that this war in Iran could be his undoing. Because history has shown that despite higher polarization, the economy is the one issue that really sticks electorally. It sticks more than culture wars or anything. Trump knows this. He rode the coattails of Biden's unpopularity and the messaging on the economy to a narrow victory. Also a non-trivial amount of Trump's base opposes this war in Iran because they sincerely wanted lower prices even though a lot of them are Trumpist enough that they will nod their heads for it and say "muh Christianity for the win" or whatever line Trump wants.

(24,858 posts)You really highlighted his shallow personality - all bluster and noise. I'm so surprised the media and the magats were taken in.

(4,994 posts)... that every breath that Trump takes is, in some way, devoted to his subservience to Vladimir Putin. Putin has owned his sorry ass for decades, but no one in Washington has the balls to call him on it, despite the voluminous proof of his treachery.
Trump is a traitor. So what does that say about those who still support the evil fuck?

(5,721 posts)Destroyed any hopes of winning over the Iranian civilian population, by bombing a girls' school and killing almost 200 people (mostly children and women teachers).
NO ONE wants the trump-brand of 'democracy'!

(42,885 posts)It happened multiple times and each one was an act of war. The fishermen weren't doing anything to provoke an attack, they were completely innocent civilians.

(368 posts)When discussing the cost of Trump's idiotic war, we should mention Iranian casualties too, nut just American casualties. In addition, over 50 U.S. bases have been bombed.

Like the 100+ girls massacred by us the first day of the war.
Humanity demands their losses weigh equally heavy on the scales of justice.
Anything less when reckoning up the moral cost of this stupid war is simply xenophobic tribalism.
Everyone loses in war.
I believe the euphemism is collateral damage, although is there still some doubt about if the school was intentional?
