Where are its people? We know they are stuck on a mass of land between Mexico and Canada. But what are they thinking today?
Are they happy with the direction the country is going? Does the average American even think about it?
Do they think of things such as the Constitution, freedom, democracy, and the law? Do they wonder why they pay so much for groceries when they go to the store?
Are they familiar with the stories about the Reflection Pool and the JFK Center?
Is it all so depressing that most of them just turn it off?
We probably won't know until after the November elections. Will we see that as a referendum on freedom, democracy, and the law? It is difficult to have faith in the judgement of the American people.

IMHO if youre looking for the America I think youre looking for, youll need a time machine to visit it. 2006 was when social media got their first steroid shot, Id recommend searching before that.

(16,022 posts)It is supposed to be We The People constantly striving to uphold the highest ideals of America's founding; to build a more perfect union; and to make that shining city on a hill a reality.
Many still hold that vision in their hearts and strive to make it a reality, but many do not.
America is many people and many things, good and bad. To paint it with a broad brush is to cover the truth.
If America must be defined, it is embodied by our government ostensibly Of, By, and For The People. Today, the actions of our government paint a picture that would make our nation's founders roll over in their graves, turning their backs to what they saw.
