Disconnect between (lack of news in the US on ) US and foreign media on trade deal news

What is it like to be an American overseas and presumably read more in the media about globalization and trade deals, then to return to the US or read US newspapers, and read virtually nothing.

Does that ever strike you expats as strange?

1. Not an expat

But I was raised with access to news beyond our borders and the difference between what we "get" to hear or see vs what is generally widely known elsewhere is astounding. My foreign friends say, "If you want to know what's really happening in your country, check out the foreign news."

It has been so my entire life.
