Publicly financed elections would return democracy to the US.

To those who say we can't afford it, we are paying now, on every issue, every dimension of life, when the lobbyists run the government and write the laws.

Publicly financed elections now, to end this systemic corruption we are still calling democracy when it is nothing like one.

Remember Granny D. Imua! Never give up.

I have been advocating for this since I joined DU!

Campaign contributions, Super PACs, Dark Money, the Revolving Door, and the MSM are the ROOT CAUSES of most of our problems. Publicly Funded Elections would cure this cancer in our Democracy.

We fight the symptoms caused by our (so called) Representatives, the lack of affordable health care, poor education, immigration, gun control, climate change..., but we usually lose because we do not have actual Representative Democracy any longer. These politicians sold us out to Donors who can virtually guarantee their seat of power.

It looks hard from here, harder than when it just looked hard, but I know we can.

Every problems traces back to campaign funding. Corruption as a system of government...it got worse than I ever thought it would. Maybe it will help us bring left and right together.

I point out it’s a lot cheaper if we bribe them than if only the rich bribe them. But my argument doesn’t get traction.
