Secret Service agents fired off a round of shots at carjackers trying to break into vehicles near Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s home in the early hours of Tuesday morning, The Post has learned.

No one was hit — but the suspects drove off in their car from the Cabinet official’s neighborhood in Northwest Washington shortly after 1:30 a.m. and have not yet been apprehended.

The DC Metro Police Department is investigating the incident, which will be overseen by the US Attorney Matthew Graves’ office.

Nobody fired "on her house." Law enforcement people fired near her house, but at carjackers.

"car jacker" implies armed theft of a vehicle from an operator in or near the car.

these sound more like auto burglers, looking for unlicked bars to see what they can grab and run.

does treasury secretary get secret service protection?

They just had very bad luck picking their area to break into cars.
Years ago in my town some guys tried break into an auto parts store, not knowing that there were 8 cops staked out near the store waiting for a big drug deal to take place in the parking lot.
And certain cabinet officials, considered essential to national security like Treasury, also get protection.
