Donald Trump promised in September he had concepts of a plan to deal with health care. Three months and a successful election later, thats still all he has. Trump told NBCs Kristen Welker on Meet the Press that he had concepts of a plan that would be better than Obamacare, though he offered few specifics on what they would look like. Instead, he tried to take credit for the laws resilience.
We have the biggest health care companies looking at it, Trump said in the interview released Sunday. We have doctors who are always looking. Because Obamacare stinks. Its lousy. There are better answers.
If we come up with a better answer, I would present that answer to Democrats and to everybody else and Id do something about it. But until we have that or until they can approve itbut were not going to go through the big deal. I am the one that saved Obamacare, I will say, he continued.
Trump also spent much of his time attacking Republican lawmakers for killing his attempt to repeal the law in 2017, namechecking the late Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for his role in killing his attempts to repeal the law. When John McCain let us down by voting, and Murkowski and Collins, and whoever it was that voted against, but they really let us down, Trump said.

And he's going to try to dismantle it.

(1,631 posts)ideal concept of a plan for healthcare turns out to be WebMD and a $50 voucher for a first aid kit. Hmmm... 🤔
OldBaldy1701E
(6,745 posts)Their plan is to let everyone who is not a healthy worker die. That way, they won't be able to be in the way of worker productivity. They will also make sure to give just enough healthcare to the really good workers to convince them that they are special and to keep them voting for the status quo. If someone does not die fast enough, they will just remove any ability to get aid and they will just starve to death. All while those who created the biased system say that all the person had to do was get a job...

(3,978 posts)The Affordable Care Act and replace it with reforms that expand choice, freedom, and affordability.
Its taken him eight years just to come up with a concept. Its not possible he was lying to us back in 2016 was he?

republican's want haelthcare like it was befoe the ACA. limits on lifetime payouts, pre-existing condituons are enforced and they will probably add limits on appeals.

(368 posts)Because we can't just get rid of for-profit health care, don't you know. But aside from that, yes, you are correct. That said, though, they do NOT intend to replace the ACA with anything.

(7,173 posts)It's called trump truth; pure, unadulterated Trump style bullshit.
He just reaches around, grabs a big handful and throws it out for everyone to see. His base eagerly embraces it as if was something great.
In actuality, this is the closest to Making America Great Again that Trump can offer...lies, half-truths, and total absurdities. All of this served up with a big helping of malicious intent, and threats to make people who oppose him pay for their transgressions against him.

(248 posts)the AHCA and the BCRA. Problem: they were awful
This Wikipedia articles covers both the AHCA (American Health Care Act) and the BCRA (Better Care Reconciliation Act)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Health_Care_Act_of_2017
H.R. 1628, American Health Care Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 5/24/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52752
would increase the number of people who are uninsured by 23 million in 2026 relative to current law.
H.R. 1628, Better Care Reconciliation Act of 2017, Cost Estimate, CBO, 6/26/17
https://www.cbo.gov/publication/52849
A little bit better: leaving 22 million uninsured in 2026 relative to current law.
This is the one that Senator John McCain famously turned thumbs down on. Otherwise it would have become law.

Both can only be described as acts of American Genocide. We need to call the GOP the American Genocide Party.

Someone on MSNBC said something intriguing
The Heritage Foundation has a plan to take over the government. What if it turns out Trump cant deliver? What would happen if Heritage kicked him to the curb? Might they do it in favor of Donut Boy?
Wild speculation, but fun to play with.

(652 posts)If his plan is to completely repeal ACA; go back to rules and regulations pre-ACA, then I may not be here much longer.
I am a lymphoma survivor in my third remission; ACA provides me protection against lifetime limits.
I am undergoing maintenance treatments that cost $1million/year.
If those stop, then my lymphoma may return.
It is not just the his 'concepts of plan' that concerns me.
Trump has nominated anti-vaxxers to healthcare positions.

Any plan if Trump had a plan would maximize shareholder wealth of insurance companies.
When he tried to repeal ACA the first time, he met with insurance companies but not patient rights groups.
