Rappers Snoop Dogg and Nelly are performing at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration events, with Snoop popping up at the first-ever "Crypto Ball" on Friday night and Nelly scheduled for the official Inaugural Liberty Ball on Monday. The performances mark a significant shift, particularly for Snoop Dogg, who previously criticized Trump and his MAGA supporters. Newsweek reached out to press contacts for both Snoop Dogg and Nelly via email on Saturday for comment.

What To Know

The Crypto Ball, hosted by incoming White House AI and "Crypto Czar" David Sacks, took place at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C. on Friday night, with tickets ranging from $2,500 to $5,000.

Snoop Dogg, dressed in a black jacket with gold buttons and a bowtie, performed hits including "Drop It Like It's Hot" while DJing a mix of crowd-pleasers from Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" to Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds." The event drew other notable guests including fellow rapper Rick Ross and UFC star Colby Covington.

Meanwhile, Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly, known for his global hit "Hot In Herre," will perform at the Inaugural Liberty Ball, one of three official inaugural celebrations on Monday according to a press release from the Trump-Vance Inaugural Committee.

Never forget!
I doubt you needed the money so you must agree with his policies. Like wanting to shoot BLM protesters. Or separation of migrant families, or resurrecting Confederate monuments, or defending any white supremacists, or assaulting women, or not wanting to help Californians suffering during the recent fires or.....
Tupac's head is hanging low. Shameful, just shameful.

Talent, really? How much talent does it take to put together a bunch of nonsense rhymes and talk (not sing) or "sing" using auto-tune over a computer generated beat or something sampled from an artist that was an actual musician? The only real talent I see between Snoop and Nelly is the record company executives that somehow get people to buy that crap.

When it comes to music and art I have vast amounts of likes and opinions. I guess I should check with you first to make sure my opinion is ok with you, since you seem to be such an expert.
How about the books I like to read, or the foods I like to eat.
One thing I love about Democrats is their diversity and tolerance. We have the ability to respect each other's differences even when we disagree.
You know who doesn't. Republicans. I disagree with their principles or lack of them.
I noticed you didn't comment on the topic of the post, instead you chose to misdirect the topic for whatever reason you might have.
If some drunk was at a bar complaining about the music I just selected, my immediate reaction would be to ignore that person. Maybe, that's what I should have done here.
I will ask, are you sure you're in the right place?

Not sure why you would take my comment personally I'm just wondering aloud why anyone would be so concerned who a couple made up pop stars would bother to perform for. Perhaps I should have just posted my comment to the post and not as a reply to yours. I didn't intend to offend you and I certainly didn't compare you to "some drunk at the bar". Have a nice day.

23. Because the post was a direct response to mine

I absolutely took offense. It came across as a personal critique of my opinion of a genre of music. Thank you for your response and I apologize for the remark I made regarding the drunk at the bar if it offended you. I used it to illustrate how I would deal with a similar situation in public by simply ignoring it. Because the actual topic of my post was not addressed, I was surprised to see a comment of that nature as a result. I'm quite aware that Rap is not everybody's cup of tea, and some may actually have a hateful reaction to it. I felt the same for about the first 3 years it hit the mainstream music industry. Especially when they gave the genre it's own award.
But yes, I have come to enjoy some and I even dance to it. I enjoy Ray Price, Sinatra, and Santana much more. And don't get me started about Country singers, also one of my favorite genres but filled with maga spewing morons.
I wish you peace and happy posting.
Be well.
