Organizers accuse Trump of trying to silence federal workers with union order

Source: Guardian

Union leaders have accused Donald Trump of union-busting in a “blatant” attempt to silence them after the president stepped up his attacks on government unions on Thursday, signing an executive order that attempts to eliminate collective bargaining for hundreds of thousands of federal workers.

Following the order the Trump administration filed a lawsuit in a Texas court to support its move to end collective bargaining, claiming collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) “significantly constrain” the executive branch.

Liz Shuler, president of the AFL-CIO, the largest federation of labor unions in the US, said the move was “straight out of Project 2025”, the rightwing Heritage Foundation’s manifesto to remake the federal government.

“President Trump’s latest executive order is a disgraceful and retaliatory attack on the rights of hundreds of thousands of patriotic American civil servants – nearly one-third of whom are veterans – simply because they are members of a union that stands up to his harmful policies,” said Everett Kelley, president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the largest union representing federal workers.

Criminality, Corruption, Cruelty, and Incompetence.

The convicted felon is firmly on the path of a third impeachment, and the Democrtic majority will ensure that the third time is a charm. Then we can start to rebuild our democracy.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

On March 28, 2025, Trump beat Hitler by more than a month.

Trump’s ban on labor unions should get everyone angry.

Trump moves to strip unionization rights from most federal workers

OPM also “advised” agencies that they no longer have to comply with laws that require advance notice and other procedures when implementing layoffs.
