DOJ sends letter to Congress with list of people named in Epstein files, including Trump: Report

Source: The Hill

02/14/26 10:59 PM ET

The Justice Department (DOJ) sent a letter to Congress on Saturday outlining its justification for redactions made in the released Jeffrey Epstein files, according to Politico. The six-page letter to the leaders of the Senate and House Judiciary committees also included a list of “all government officials and politically exposed persons” named in the files for any reason. Several high-profile names were on the list, including President Trump.

The department noted that names appeared in a “wide variety of contexts,” ranging from individuals who directly emailed with Epstein or his associate Ghislaine Maxwell to those who had no interaction with either but were referenced in documents such as media reports.

The lack of clarity surrounding which individuals fit into which contexts drew criticism from Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), who accused the DOJ of “purposefully muddying the waters on who was a predator and who was mentioned in an email.”

“To have Janis Joplin, who died when Epstein was 17, in the same list as Larry Nassar, who went to prison for the sexual abuse of hundreds of young women and child pornography, with no clarification of how either was mentioned in the files is absured,” Khanna, one of the co-sponsors of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, wrote on the social platform X. “Release the full files. Stop protecting predators. Redact only the survivor’s names,” he added.

JUST IN: DOJ sends Hill a letter purporting to fulfill requirement in Epstein Files Transparency Act for an explanation of all redactions from released files. The six-page letter is a lot less detailed than 1 would get in run-of-the-mill #FOIA case. Doc: https://documentcloud.org/documents/27061014-efta-final-letter/

Gloria Allred and Fidel Castro were not involved in Epstein, Trump, and Putin’s child sex trafficking ring.

What a joke including the names of people that were found on emails instead of a complete
list of all those involved in the Putin-Epstein-Musk international child sex trafficking/black mail/
extortion/rape/kidnapping/money laundering/murder/kompromat/organized crime ring.

Really? Congress is adjourned, it’s a 3-day holiday weekend, so the DOJ publishes something so nobody will see it?

I don’t care. Defund the whole government if it takes to eliminate rogue agencies and Republican political appointees to government departments.

Defund the DHS first. Don’t stop there. The beast is the GOP political class —-starve it.

This is what I mentioned a long time ago, the emails and flight logs do not mean anything. He was a financial guy. People would come to him for investment advice. If they fell prey to him he would entrap them. The money trail is what people should be trying to find.

That's the list I want to see because it's well established that Epstein was linked to a lot of people because he was well connected and that in of itself isn't a crime.
Actually being involved in participating in the sexual abuse of young girls though is a crime.

“All government officials and politically exposed persons,” should be at the top of the unredacted list. The only redacted people should be the victims.

Six pages? Try more like 1,006 pages. They made sure to get Pres. Biden's name in there.

I don't see the connection to politics for many of them, while some other prominent people are left off this list. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Weinstein liked to offer bribes and get them himself. I also don't know if he liked them that young or not.

And since Weinstein was in the "entertainment" industry like 45, and was even a pedophile protector for the likes of Roman Polanski, he was definitely "in that world" (including an overlap connection to Woody Allen).

In fact, I forgot about this mention -

New Epstein files reveal he may have trafficked girls to others despite official denials

The disclosure of more than 3m files related to Jeffrey Epstein suggests that other men were involved in his sexual abuse, prompting questions about officials’ contentions that there isn’t evidence to investigate third parties for potential involvement in the late financier’s crimes.

Some newly released documents contain allegations that Epstein provided victims to other men. Documents released in prior disclosures, as well as court documents, also point to others’ possible criminal involvement with Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.

One accuser said that Maxwell told her that Epstein had to leave his house but that there was a friend staying who she could massage. During this encounter, this associate allegedly offered her money if she engaged in sex.

The woman alleged that she did so and that this friend paid her money. A “prosecution memorandum” dated 26 January 2021 and signed by assistant US attorneys from the southern district of New York described this encounter and said that when the woman’s lawyers showed her a photo of the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, she identified him as this man.
The names of the US attorneys are redacted. It’s not clear to what extent authorities investigated these allegations. Weinstein was never charged for any conduct related to Epstein.
