The day we lost Justice in America.

https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2024/11/so-just-exactly-what-are-we-supposed-to.html

One of the most high profile criminals in all of American history is not just walking away scot-free, he is headed for a second term as President of the United States. If I were writing a novel and I wanted to create the most incredibly unbelieveable problem for the characters to resolve, I could not have come up with a theme as crazy, and as incredible as this.

He attempted to overturn the results of a state's election by intimidating election workers and threatening state officials, corruptly asking to "find me 11,000 more votes." He took classified documents from the White House, an openly illegal crime, and then attempted to hide them from the FBI. He tried to cover up an illicit affair with a porn star by putting the payoffs into his business budget. And worst of all, he attempted to overthrown the results of a legitimate election, and thus overthrow the government of the United States, by inciting a violent riot that intended to commit murder to do so, and in fact, did just that.

And he walks away from all of it. This isn't something hidden in some corner, it's something the whole world can see, and it is an utter embarrassment to the United States. It is a message to the rest of the world that there is no rule of law in America, and that we have, by default, become an oligarchy of the rich, even as our form of government goes through the motions. The constitution has failed in one of its core objectives to protect the American people.

I still fail to understand how it could be that a mob could attack the Capitol, at the instigation of the President, and he was not arrested, charged and taken into custody the day after the insurrection, when it was clear he incited it. That's what should have happened, and why it did not happen is something generations of Americans will pay for with their individual rights and freedoms. I've heard all of the Justice department apologists and they can keep their defensive rhetoric. This was a monumental failure of justice, of the legal system, the courts and of the Department of Justice.

And slow walking the prosecutions made him appear invincible. At Gettysburg, in October, 2020 Biden’s message was “unity”. Unity with criminals and traitors is impossible.

Garland thought that waiting would give them an advantage in this election. Regardless, the #1 imperative of this administration was to hold him accountable. Sadly, it couldn’t meet the challenge.

3. I don't understand a judge, holding 34 felony convictions that had nothing to do with his job as President

failing to sentence him to prison. Yeah, political pressure. His career is ruined, no one can ever trust another decision he makes.

And really, I don't understand how it is that someone on the federal bench can be so openly corrupt, like Aileen Cannon, and keep her job. Lifetime appointments should be done away with.

Trump should have been sentenced, leaving the consequences regarding the Presidency to be resolved separately.

2. Just occurred to me

That maybe this is just a trial run , and that some oligarchs will use this as precedent to why justice will not apply to them also .
No hue and cry to this abdication … perhaps none will come for me
🤔

“No man is above the law.” — FALSE.

“Justice delayed is justice denied.” — TRUE.

7. This is what we will see going forward. A government and citizenry trying to pretend that things still work as normal.

by seeing low level things still get handled in courts like they should be and they will think "maybe it's OK".

10. Yes, we'll talk about the next election and assume that everything will go back to the way it used to be before Trump.

To think otherwise is impossible at this time.

8. All that was needed for probable cause

was "Go down there and fight like hell......" Does anybody really think that if an arsonist burns down a building and they find that we paid for the arsonist to be in the area, told him to go to that building and "make it hot as hell" that we would not be in custody immediately as an accessory at the very least? It sure as hell would not have taken 3+ years for them to haul us in for questioning. But the powers that be acted as though we needed every last scintilla of testimony in depositions, a pile of documents and e-mails higher than the Empire State Building and video taped confessions before they could act at all except against the lowest echelons.

The idea that we needed to uncover the nth degree of detail and know every nuance of every possible criminal aspect created such delay that it became farcical with delays of months for incidental rulings on motions that could have been rendered on the spot. They acted like they would be nervous about charging even if they had the main crook himself on tape confessing it all. Remember that the OJ criminal trial failed partly in large measure to a judge who allowed the trial and courtroom to be out of control. Look no further than Judge Ito allowing the defense to literally scream and shout at Dennis Fung as he testified for example. Judge Ito wasn't fit to judge a pie eating contest let alone a serious criminal trial.

The judges failed to treat this criminal crumb of a real estate swindler and his crimes as an urgent case with threats to the democracy hanging in the balance and so we got routine matters scheduled out until months in the future and in one case a judge openly placing not just a thumb on the scales of justice to favor the crook but rather she hiked her entire backside on the pan in full view of everyone and was unafraid to do so. We know the reward from the crook to her will take place.

I have to say that it irks me that this person (presumably male) doesn't sign his name to the essays. I guess he has his reasons, I don't know. He seems articulate enough, and the opinions are generally well-thought out. He says he was raised as a Southern Baptist, but nowadays he self-identifies as a "Quaker." Well OK, how many Quakers do we know who post political opinions on the internet? I think he's the only one.

I don't think he's a troll, but his motives for posting as "The Signal Press" are unclear to me. Grain of salt ...
