At least the Oval Office meeting held by President Donald Trump and Vice President J. D. Vance with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was held in front of the cameras. False friendliness in public by Trump and Vance, followed by behind-the-scenes treachery, would have been much more dangerous to the Ukrainian cause.

Instead, Trump and Vance have revealed to Americans and to America’s allies their alignment with Russia, and their animosity toward Ukraine in general and its president in particular. The truth is ugly, but it’s necessary to face it.

3. Does Frum talk about Trump's long and well known ties to Russia and that they have kompromat

on Trump?

If not, he's still avoiding the truth.

5. What is the surprise?

We knew from the first impeachment that Trump was using the leverage of weapons supplies to Ukraine to force Zelenski to invent dirt on Biden and Biden's kid. Trump was very open about it. It was all in the impeachment testimony.

We also made a conscious decision to push policies very disagreeable domestically to the working class, and we lost an election over it.

The problem is when a shyster like Trump is elected he does a lot more than reverse a couple of highly contentious policies, he has also done things he wants that no one much saw coming, like massive firings at govt agencies simply because he can.

Ukraine is a horrible thing, Trump wants to abandon a European democracy fighting a vicious dictator for their very lives. Next up is a budget battle to beat all budget battles.

In the future we should be careful to support policies that benefit everyone, we would win more elections.
