Someone's creative Vinz Clortho The Keymaster of Gozer Halloween costume
I cleaned several glass jars and painted Halloween scenes on them a few years ago. I place battery operated candles in them.

(9,782 posts)We average 1 to 10 trick or treaters a year.
There's a newer, more expensive housing addition that's about a block away and they average 200 trick or treaters a year.
I usually walk down that way to pass out treats.

(6,477 posts)However, I know that the rest of the people in this little complex are old and cranky and would always make sure to never decorate outside their townhouse. The exterior lights on the buildings are controlled so people cannot turn them off for that night, but the kids in the apartments that surround us know not to come anywhere near this place.
(One time, I witnessed two boys carrying a large cardboard box down the greenway behind our place to a spot in the brush across the pond. It appeared as if they were going to make a small camp and maybe sleep out there for the night. NOPE. The cops were there in a moment. They were told they could not do this. I later learned that my neighbor called them. The boys who did this were not white. The next week, I saw three white boys walking along the same greenway while using sticks to whack at the flowers and plants in people's yards. I waited. And waited. NO police showed up. They were out there for a while doing this and I saw no one intervene. But two small boys who were bothering no one had to be rousted by the cops. This is why no child comes near this place on Halloween. It has been a living hell for me, as I love this holiday. I don't buy any candy because no one will eat it save for us. And, all residents here are diabetic to some degree. I hate living here.)

(9,782 posts)a plain 16 count plain Rice Krispies individual treats and a 8 count of Swiss Miss individual packs of hot chocolate with marshmallows.
I always let the trick or treaters choose what they want.
If we don't get many trick or treaters, all the individual corn chips are mine and SO can have the rest of the chips and Rice Krispies treats for work. I'll give the hot chocolate packages to the neighbors.
