Not knowing what to do

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Lasher (a host of the The DU Lounge forum).

My ballot arrived yesterday and there were so many propositions on it, all confusing to me.

So I did not vote one way or the other on them.

That said, the rest was simple.

I voted The Ticket, the Democratic Ticket.

I'm sure everyone here will do the same!

My father was the one that always voted The Ticket.

He was a life long Union man, a highly skilled printer.

He would have NEVER voted for a tRUMP. Never.

It was vote The Ticket no matter what!

The League of Women Voters also publishes voters guides for many locations.

Start here: https://www.vote411.org/

Or do a Google/etc. search for your city/county, Democratic Party, and "voter's guide".

That has the text of all the propositions along with arguments "For" and "Against".

For most, you can cut through the confusion by looking at how they got on the ballot and who is for and against.

Bad ideas tend to be put there by our GOP controlled legislature. Arguments "for" are mostly from republican lawmakers, Chambers of Commerce, and "Astro-turf" groups that always seem to have "Free Enterprise" or "Prosperity" in their titles. Here, most of these propositions area about preventing open primaries and blocking amendments that come from public petitions.

The good ideas are usually placed on the ballot from public petitions. They are supported by groups like the Sierra Club and Democratic lawmakers and opposed by the same clowns mentioned above.

Judge retention. A quick guide - look at who appointed them. A brief search online provides the answer.

It looked good at first but after reading a few things about it, it seems the money was all going to the General Fund, not the specific event it claimed to be about.

UGH!

Yes, no or maybe so = I don't know.

So I just left it blank. No regrets if it turns into utter chaos down the road should it pass.

It was for "road improvement", something I am all for but if the money is going into the General Fund it could end up anywhere and a few of the local politicians admitted it!

Voting aids like the pamphlets or booklets explaining the propositions pro and con? Every state I've ever voted in does. They usually show up in the mail before the voting begins.

I would make use of those if I were you, it's important to vote for all of them one way or the other.

He'd fill her ballot out for her and made sure it was voting The Ticket, the Democratic Ticket.

I often thought this was pushing it a bit too hard but ...

He made sure that she too voted The Ticket!

Dad's message was clear and that is:

VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE !!!!
