I got a free health club membership today.

I'm on Medicare, and I have that extra policy that you get to cover prescriptions. Well its re-enrollment time, and today I was looking on the website and it listed some nearby health clubs that my plan might help cover.

So I made an appointment and went on over to the closest one, which is pretty huge. It has 4 locations, classes, and a pool. I wanted to see what kind of a discount I'd get, but you can't get them to talk money without actually going over there and taking the tour.

So I did take the tour. And at the end of it I mentioned this secondary policy. He asked me for my card and when he ran it, he told me that my membership would be complimentary, for as long as I have his insurance. Monthly charge $0.00, forever. I was expecting like a 10 monthly discount. So I signed up.

This is awesome!

Silver Sneakers is a standard benefit for them and is basically a free membership to your favorite Y or other gym. This includes swimming and everything else the gym provides. This is a wonderful benefit.

from Silver Sneakers. I don't think it is a Medicare Benefit; some insurance companies pay for it some don't.
