The phone call won't go through. It just bleeps and disconnects. Should I use my landline? Are there still operators available? I'm really out of it.

(4,542 posts)You might google how to dial Ireland from the US on a mobile phone. The advice you'll find often includes the proper format for the country code. I've had to do this before on how to dial the US from another country turns out the country code for that is not just 1+.

(4,542 posts)Edit: If this doesn't work maybe contact your carrier.
Second edit: Your calling plan needs to allow you to call other countries as well.

(4,542 posts)Here were their instructions. Check with your carrier to see if the same process applies. IMPORTANT: Dialing the + before the international number is the key, at least with my carrier.
1. On your device, open the dialer in your phone app to make a call.
2. Enter the plus sign + (press and hold the 0 key), followed by the country code, and then the phone number.
For example, to call Mexico from the US: Enter the plus sign + > Enter 52 > Enter the two or three-digit area code > Enter the 7 or 8 digit phone number.

(4,542 posts)At least for my carrier, I have to dial a plus (+) before the international number. The instructions I entered above show you how to dial the plus on your cell. So in your case, you'd dial
