front windows of homes. Thank you.

(186,997 posts)One at work and at my Moms house Friday.
We put the tree up here yesterday. We have two ornaments on it - cardinals.
As I tell my wife, anything you put up has to be put back away.

(186,997 posts)My daughter has over 100 nutcrackers (nothing expensive) so I think she should put up the ones she wants. We had a brutal November and Im trying to get my wife to relax and do as little as possible.

(121,236 posts)and I don't care enough to bother anyhow. There's a string of lights outside along my porch eaves and that's it.

(17,704 posts)It would have been done sooner but I had to restring an 8ft snowman and his little buddy. The house was finished yesterday. I have a little white Christmas tree in the front living room and a nice big real one in the back living room. There are 18 fruitcakes wrapped in Capt Morgans and homemade gingerbread cookie dough in the freezer. Ive got peppermint pinwheel dough in the fridge firming up so I can roll it out to make the pinwheels. That will get stashed in the freezer too. When its time to bake them there will be very little clean up.
I LOVE Christmas!!!

(37,975 posts)I dug it out the last warm day and spent the last two-days primping the branches. I bought one of those bags vs the torn box. Dug out all the ornaments, it amazing how many real old and new ones I have.
I haven't thought about outside lights, yet

(37,435 posts)My wife has put up a tree in our living room, another tree in our computer room, another in the upstairs hallway. Electric candles in all the windows, garland everywhere. Outside, a nativity scene, a santa claus, and much more to come, she is just getting started.

(9,782 posts)I have an extra piece of furniture in my living room that I didn't have last year at this time. Since I have this extra piece of furniture, I need to either move it to another room or figure out another furniture arrangement. So far my furniture rearranging hasn't been practical.
I've been measuring, moving stuff around, and breaking out the vacuum sweeper and I haven't came up with a solution yet.
It's only December 1st, I'm not giving up.

No tree this year because the kittens are still, well, kittens.
My wife decided to live without a tree until they mature more. (They're so docile, it might have been ok but we'll live without for a year.)

(9,782 posts)We still have it, but we purchased a 3 foot half wall Christmas tree due to our "chewer".
There wasn't an abundance of ornaments on it but at least we had a tree.

(70,318 posts)An even littler one in the rec room. (16-18"?)
These are too small for climbing & there are no ornaments at all on the tiny one.
So, we had ideas similar to what you're doing.

(1,766 posts)so properly the tree and decorations go up today. But yesterday was when I had the time, so put them up then.
It was warm(ish) last Sunday here, so lots of people put up their outside decorations then. Now it's cold and windy, so last week was the best choice.

(22,757 posts)We are both feeling too old and tired to fool with the big one and the 10000 ornaments. Plus, the room the tree would normally go in does not have a place for the tree. We have never done much outside since our daughter moved away but if I bother we put out lots of red mini lights on the hedges. I have an amazing garland with white mini lights in mass quantities that fits over our front entry and it is easy to hang.
When I was growing up, we never put the tree up until we got to the point that it would only be up about a couple of weeks and it always came down on New Year's Day.
Our trees came from my uncle's farm and were scrub cedar, which shed all over the place. My mom hated the mess; also being fresh trees, they were a fire hazard. We always had fun going out with my dad to get the tree though.
When the aluminum trees first came out my mom was ecstatic!!! Then we discovered that the reason we were all sick during Christmas was allergies to the cedar tree!!! At some point, we graduated to a real artifical tree.
