If I had a nickel for everytime I've heard this, I'd be rich.

It's either the below statement or a derivative of it when you make a mistake when working on someone else's home:

"No problem. You can't see it from my house".

Everyone knew everyone else. Therefore, metaphorically speaking, you could see it from your house. Because if you screwed someone over with crappy work, you were seldom hired to do anything else.
