(38,654 posts)I like the instrumental version better than the singing version, even if it is Charlie Brown & friends.
I like minor key Christmas songs. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" is a fave.

(60,530 posts)Someday at Christmas men won't be boys
Playing with bombs like kids play with toys
One warm December our hearts will see
A world where men are free
Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars
When we have learned what Christmas is for
When we have found what life's really worth
There'll be peace on earth
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas we'll see a land
With no hungry children, no empty hand
One happy morning people will share
Our world where people care
Whoa, someday at Christmas there'll be no tears
When all men are equal and no man has fears
One shinning moment one prayer away
From our world today
Someday all our dreams will come to be
Someday in a world where men are free
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmas man will not fail
Hate will be gone and love will prevail
Someday a new world that we can start
With hope in every heart, yeah
whoa, yeah
(Someday in a world where men are free)
Maybe not in time for you and me
But someday at Christmastime
Someday at Christmastime

Also like "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". I like the jazzy quality some versions have.

Christmas Canon (Trans-Siberian Orchestra version)
Beautiful Star of Bethlehem (love hearing any Mennonite choir sing this)
I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
In the Bleak Midwinter
Bring A Torch Jeanette Isabella
Rise Up Shepherd and Follow
The Boars Head Carol.
I Need A Little Christmas
Agree with you , Deb on Ave Maria
Hard to stick to a few favorites. I like so many, both religious and secular. Happy Holidays!

(38,066 posts)The late great Dan Hicks was crazy about Christmas and formed a star studded Christmas Jug Band. It still gets together, sans Hicks, and does a coupe of wonderful gigs in December. If they come to your town, dont miss it.

(29,031 posts)More specifically, the version with Alison Krauss singing and Yo-Yo-Ma's cello, with a healthy dose of Irish pipes at the end. Stunning in its beauty; readily available online.
It's not Christmas season for me until I: (1.) hear The Wexford Carol a few times; and (2.) see Alistair Sims' "Scrooge" movie (1951).

(22,531 posts)Originally written in 1962 by Noel Regney and Gloria Shayne as a plea for peace during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962.
It was first recorded in November 1962 by the Harry Simeone Chorale, followed by Bing Crosby in 1963.
So many versions of this song exist, but my personal favorite is by country singer Carrie Underwood:

Probably "O' Holy Night" and "Do You Hear What I Hear?"
But I really like the Eydie Gormet/Steve Lawrence Christmas duets
The peculiar but fun "It's a Marshmallow World" by Dean Martin
"Toyland" (because I never left it) and "March of the Toys"
"Holly Jolly Christmas" and other songs from "Rudolph"
All the music from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special!!!!
The Glen Miller Band "Jingle Bells"
"Silent Night" can be pretty great--depends upon the artist
"Christmas Don't Be Late" by the Chipmunks (I know this is unpopular here--sorry)
And the music from the Nutcracker ballet.
Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates, and Happy Hanukah to our fantastic Jewish DUers, and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh, O
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
