It's been low key weighing on me for weeks, and I haven't really told anyone about my mental distress concerning it. I'm relieved for now.

When I was in the hospital in October, all my labs were horribly screwed. I was told they would take a few months to recover, and it looks like they did.

I go right to the hospital for labs, and one of them, CBC, was back before I put my coat back on and left! They do that one immediately.

The rest were available in the portal a few hours later.

It's from the movie "Goodfellas" where Jimmy Conway (De Niro) is thinking of whacking Morey.

22 years sober and smoke free.

I’m glad your tests came out okay. It’s always scary 😱 until you know otherwise.

And the fear grows every year that passes!

But I have a memory of being in a gym in my late 20's. My best friend and I would would work out like maniacs every Monday and Thursday night (the owners would only let you go twice a week) because of the nature of the weight machines...muscles needed more recovery time in order to get any benefit).

So then, after the workout, we would go out drinking to "negate the workout" like a couple of idiots, and be hung over as hell every Tuesday and Friday morning at work.

I remember looking at my friend one night, and him saying to me "we're not going to make it to 30 if we keep doing this shit".

So I sit here at age 66, still kicking. If I can get to 80, that's when I start drinking and smoking again. Then, I'll shoot for 90.

But, living by yourself with current events, it's a lot easier these days to slip into a IDGAFA attitude about life. OTOH, I got big plans for the Spring. Right now it's a depressing mess up here in Central Maine. 20" of snow is dissolving in 47 degree rain. When this freezes...oh joy. Haven't seen the sun in a week.....

Still, I wake up everyday and think..."what new shit will I learn today that I didn't know before?"
