(6,715 posts)Roast beef, bacon, the same cheese as a Beef n Cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Kind of like a BLT with beef and cheese added.
I used to get them for breakfast back when they existed on their menu.

(62,415 posts)son used to get the bacon added . It sounds wonderful . Too bad it's
gone.

(7,302 posts)( Bacon, Alfalfa Sprouts and Tomato) mayo & Grey Poupon spread...

Sprouts have nutritional value, and have a better crunch and brighter flavor than iceberg lettuce!
For a sub... Tuna salad with diced onion & mayo
cream cheese spead top
and bottom Tomatoes and the sprouts, a channel of hot pepper relish down the center
of the tuna...

(14,307 posts)The deviled egg must also have chives or scallions and not be too 'wet' as to not gush out the sides.
I used to love tuna salad sandwiches the same way, but the tuna fishing industry is a problem, so no more for me.

(510 posts)Take a toasted bun or hoagie roll - or if you're me flatbread, and cover with a thin layer of coleslaw. On top of that, a layer of your fave chili - beans optional. Throw away the hot dog and apply a Polish sausage - all beef preferably, grilled or browned in an iron skillet. Cover with sharp cheddar and jack cheeses. For garnish, green onions and/or sliced jalapenos.
Use a fork!
BLT's are the essence of Summer!

(3,413 posts)I used to go there at least once a year for many, many years. Once while there, I told my mother "I love Chicago. I would live in Chicago. Why don't I live in Chicago?" and she said "Because you can't afford it." TRUTH!
I lived in Nashville in the 70s. I still have a dear friend there; we stay in touch to this day. I don't remember much about the food, though!

(194 posts)Learned it traveling in the Yorkshire Moors many years ago. We stopped at a farmhouse cafe.
Homemade whole wheat bread, spread thick with real butter (no mayo) and thick slices of very sharp cheddar. They grew the cucumbers of course.
Pairs well with fresh apple cider.

Served up with an ice cold beer.

(27,818 posts)The train station was sooo cool looking, and big!
When we arrived it was around lunch time. So we ate at a restaurant right there, where I had a croque monsieur. Very tasty.
And to have it in it's place of origin was quite a fun thing.

(77,617 posts)Actually, I'd go one step up to club sandwich by adding the sliced turkey or chicken breast.
Also, we use Marie's Creamy Farlic dressing as the condiment. Great!
