(26,481 posts)My Dad was not only her 1st Born Child but her1st Born American Child of which she had 5.
I remember going over to their double deck home, her daughter and her family lived on the 1st floor of the Double Decker in Cambridge, she and my grandfather lived on the top floor.
We would go to her house for Family Sunday dinners and ALWAYS had spaghetti. As I got a little older I would be in the kitchen when she made dinner.
SHE ALWAYS broke the pasta in half. Whether that was the way they did it in Italy. or to make the pasta go further, I don't know. But it was then the way my Mom made it and I have always cooked it. I don't think it was to fit the pot as the pot was tall enough to handle the full length.
And we always twirled the pasta on our forks.
