We are starting on a new adventure.

It looks like our decolonizing adventure is going to be a permanent stay in Germany.
To that end we are starting the process of buyifng a flat.

What a difference this is compared to the US.

No MLS services. there are some sites that collect some of the available offerings. But most places you have to find a realtor or several to see places. The time frames are different here also. It takes a minimum of 3 months from your filing papers to getting the keys. If there are renters you add 3 to 6 months to that. The notaries which handle the official documents get about 8%. Plus the gargae spaces are normally sold separately.
If you are used to speedy viewings of property, good luck... One place we are going to look at has taken 10 plus days to get thetime to visit.

This will be fun.

We have driven through some beautiful places. Last year we took a Viking River cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam and visited many of their towns on the Rhine, some of d we high we had seen on our independent travels.

May I ask which city or village you chose to live in?

This is the 4th country I've lived in. Who knew this old Bluenoser (Nova Scotian) would end up in Munich.

To varying degrees.

At least you are in a sane country.

I never dreamed I would be in a situation wishing to escape back to Europe, which my ancestors fled just before shitler1 murdered all my relatives remaining in Europe. Boggles the mind!

Sorry about your relatives. I've known a few who were in a similar boat. One of them got his German citizenship because of that.
He doesn't plan on living in Germany but he is moving to France or Spain. Since he is an EU citizen.
We are going to apply for citizenship so we can vote against the AfD.

It was quite a shock to find the cost involved but they handle all the stuffthat title insurance people do including research on
ownership. US notaries just say they witnessed that the right people signed the documents.
