(12,957 posts)I like doing toys and creative crochet. But I do afghans too. One Xmas I made my daughter a David Grohl doll and daughter in law a Tom Petty doll. I also made my grandson in law an Einstein doll because he puts up solar power in under developed countries where they need electricity and his wife my grand daughter a Normie doll ( the lake monster in North Carolina)they live in NC. My other grandson got a Big Foot ( so if he runs into him while hiking in Seattle where he lives he' ll recognize him)
and his wife got a Hello Kitty because she loves Hello Kitty ( the bunny is for their daughter). I had fun that Christmas.

(4,722 posts)The bunny has the sweetest expression on their face.
Figarosmom
(12,957 posts)I worked hard on the face to get it to look sweet snd not hard. I must have made at least 6 different pairs of eyes, including pink ones.

(9,368 posts)to even contemplate crocheting a astuffie in fuzzy yarn, fur yarn, or even chenille. I've knitted a couple of teddy bears in worsted and have a third, less than half finished one somewhere. But my crochrt guage is so tight I'd be cussing at every stitch trying crochet.
Figarosmom
(12,957 posts)Get used to working with it. I had a hard time until I tried it with double yarn, a plain 3 ply worsted mixed with an eyelash. Then I got so I could do it with just the eyelash type.
soldierant
(9,368 posts)I don't have the problem with knitting. I've made whole sweaters with eyelash or fur, as well as some with eyelash ot fur raglan yokes and the rest worsted. I'm not certain, but I think it's the two needles as opposed to the single hook that helps me keep the opening open through which the yarn has to go to finish each stitch.
Figarosmom
(12,957 posts)The trick. Easy to lose your place. Or if you have to go back to a mistake and pull it out it becomes really hard to find the hole.
I have a trouble with it being slippery on the knitting needle.

(12,957 posts)But I prefer crochet.
I used to sew teddy bears out of woolen fabrics and made one in leather, when my daughter was young. She used to collect them.
