Ssssssss is a very underrated 1973 horror movie about a herpetologist, played by the late, great Stother Martin, who injects his young assistant (Dirk Benedict, later of TV's THE A TEAM) with a serum that gradually turns him into a King Cobra. I ihad just recently watched this movie again, on METV's nationally aired "Svengoolie" program. The scene in which Martin's character begs his university department head for a research grant couldn't help but remind me of how much he would be screwed out of those funds today by DOGE's Musk!😅

(72,378 posts)The reason I remember it so well is because it was the first movie we saw in the theater that was all X-Rated stuff until they changed ownership. The new owners decided to go head to head with the other 5 movie houses in town & drop the X stuff.>
Since I was only 16 or 17 that year, we never went to that theater until the switch, and thus was the movie we saw our first trip there.
I do recall the movie being pretty tense.

Svengoolie (Rich Koz) has shown this movie on his MeTV show several times, most recently, this past Saturday, February 15. I had first seen Sssssss during the late 1970s, when it had made itsTV broadcast debut on NBC.

(7,691 posts)I agree. It was better than I thought after that first time decades ago.
Svengoolie's jokes, however...
