how important it is to be able to tell the difference between similar creatures. And it can be surprisingly easy to do. For instance, black bears are not usually dangerous to humans, but grizzly bears certainly are dangerous. When hiking it is a good idea to wear small bells on your clothes so that you don't surprise a grizzly, and of course, carry bear spray.

It is useful to be able to tell the difference between black bear poop and grizzly bear poop. Black bear poop has bits of squirrel fur and berries in it. On the other hand, grizzly bear poop smells like pepper spray and has small bells in it.
