Cancelled yesterday!
Three things to know:
The company reported nearly 19 million new subscribers during the last fiscal quarter of 2024, their largest subscription jump ever during a three-month period. That puts them at a total of 302 million global subscribers, the most of any streaming platform.
Netflix also announced a bump in prices for all subscription tiers in the U.S. The standard account with ads now costs $7.99 per month, ad-free subscriptions are $17.99, while the premium plan is $24.99. This reflects price hikes of $1, $2.50 and $2 per month, respectively.
This comes months after Netflix's last price hike, when the company eliminated its least expensive, ad-free option.

(18,191 posts)Just let it lapse yesterday as well. I usually jump in and out when a series like Stranger Things becomes available. Unless I can get the service for rock bottom price (for example I have Hulu, Disney Plus, and Starz for a year at $4/mo.). I have Max for $3/mo. for six months, and Peacock for $2/mo. (also for six months I think). My ad free Paramount Plus which I got for $60/yr is coming up next month, and I will probably cancel unless I get another deal like that. Apple Plus TV usually runs three free months once a year, and I do that especially when For All Mankind comes out.
I do pay full price for Prime, but you can get free or low cost subscriptions to other streamers through them on a weekly or monthly basis (Shudder, AMC, Qello, MGM Plus) at least once during the year.
Netflix is definitely the market leader. I do love Mike Flanagan's series and movies on there. Also I appreciate Zack Snyder even though his stuff isn't perfect (I liked Rebel Moon a lot more than others I think).

(18,191 posts)My wife likes to access the local city broadcasts, and several of the broadcasters are 70 miles from us (probably could get them with a good antenna but the basic cable cost isn't that great).

(39,446 posts)No cable, no satellite, no broadcast, no other streaming services.
If civilization collapses I probably won't run out of DVDs to watch so long as I can keep our house.
