'Choco-holic' Opossum Hospitalized After Annihilating Entire Costco Chocolate Cake: 'Too much of a good thing'

An opossum with a sweet tooth was hospitalized after it annihilated an entire Costco chocolate mousse cake that was left outside on the porch of a Nebraska real estate agent’s home this week. Kim Doggett and her son discovered the distressed critter curled up on her patio furniture.

“She didn’t look so great – she was kind of panting,” Doggett said.

Chocolate-colored paw prints covered her beige couch – and the nearly devoured dessert was on the floor of her deck. The nearly six-pound Virginia opossum – the only marsupial species in the US – was admitted to Nebraska Wildlife Rehab on Monday, where the furry creature is expected to make a full recovery.
