(49,700 posts)Too old to boogie, barely able to eat, in pain, neglected by family who want to know what they get.
It's a paradise we created. Thank goodness for financial planners.

(39,426 posts)Takes a couple hours to even work it out. Still I’m glad to be alive though so far.
Hang in there, Walleye! The only support I can offer is moral support, and I hope you're feeling relief already today.

(39,426 posts)Unfortunately, it’s too damn cold to go out and take even a little walk. I think that would help. really do appreciate your sympathy, though.

(8,350 posts)It doesn't have to be very expensive even. I realize that whatever the condition, there is never one single thing that works for everyone who has it.

(27,140 posts)I bought a cane for when I had a flare-up of my pain because of my scoliosis. Then I discovered stretches and they are amazingly easy and very effective.
I do the first one at the top on the left in bed before I get up as daily prevention.

(27,140 posts)I used to have to shuffle across the floor with my knees bent, hunched over with the cane to move around when I had bad flares. I have not had a flare since I started stretching. I hope you find some relief. I know how bad it hurts.

(20,429 posts)The dr. I had said there is a muscle by the sciatica nerve, that in 20% of humans, splits to both sides of the nerve. When the muscle is irritated, it swells, so in 20% of people, the sciatica is pinched between those two swollen muscles and hurts like hell.
I got intense physical therapy at a sports medicine center. I would go in and they laid hot weights on the affected area, then did a massage that, while it hurt, also felt good. I was able to show my husband where the epicenter of the pain was, and he did a great job giving me massages at home. I also did a lot of exercises, after the massage at the center and then at home. Some of them were on the chart littlemisssmartypants posted. At the end of my treatment, one of the therapists said I should get an excercise ball, one of the big ones you can sit on.
Just sitting on the ball is passive exercise to strengthen your back muscles. But there are several exercises you can do with the ball. I still have mine, but don't use it like I used to.
I was lucky to get therapy and advice. I will still have trouble with my back in general (the O.P. for sure!) but try to pace myself. My icepack is my friend. So is my hotpad.
Feel better!

(697 posts)My primary care doctor gave me an Rx for a taper down regimen of prednisone and that knocked it right out the very first day. Sometimes you just need something to make the inflammation go down so you do those stretches that will help keep it at bay. I hope you get some relief!

(10,461 posts)After I chiseled ice off the sidewalk and driveway with the snow shovel to make it safer for walking.
I ended up doing some stretches from Dr. Rowe that seemed to help me.

Life, it ain't fair!

I'm feeling much better now though!

(20,429 posts)I have some choice names for several places that turn on me, usually when I least expect it!
How about the meme that says, When I was a kid, I'd jump off the garage roof and land on concrete. Now, if I drink water the wrong way, I have to wear a brace for a week
