Wonder Why
(5,526 posts)If so, the judge should be fired, the guy lose his license and should pay for Uber/Lyft or a taxi to take the son to the doctor. At his age, the car sale, no need for car insurance and savings on gas and maintenance should cover all the trips his son needs until dad dies of old age and can't drive anymore.

(19,941 posts)I just enjoyed the video.
I didn't perform an analysis of the case.
ProfessorGAC
(72,361 posts)He could easily have been going 25-30 mph, hit the school zone with a limit of 20.
Got nicked to being 10mph over.
Forgetting to slow down 6 or 7mph is not reckless or negligent.
I'm not firing a judge over giving an old man a break.
Now, if we find out the guy was going 50, I'd be likely to adjust my thinking.
But, we don't know enough to start revoking licenses, forcing a car sale or removing a judge.
Wonder Why
(5,526 posts)A school zone is one place I keep strictly to the limit. I disagree with you totally.
ProfessorGAC
(72,361 posts)I think you're being ridiculous.
Wonder Why
(5,526 posts)my grandchildren with me. Ridiculous? That's an insult. You may think I am being overcautious. Until you have been a volunteer firefighter riding along in an ambulance with lights and sirens going and working with a paramedic and a deputy to keep a 10 y/o child alive until we reached the hospital then helping turn the child on a gurney over t the ER people, please keep "ridiculous" to yourself. The vehicle was going less than 10 miles an hour when it accidentally backed into the boy.
Oh, the parents arrived minutes after we did and they asked the doctor if their boy was okay. I couldn't hear what she said but I could see it in her eyes. I still think about it 40 years later. It still makes me turn away and tear up.

(19,941 posts)We don't know the details of the case at all.
Why are you projecting all of these horrible scenarios and negativity onto this situation when a JUDGE, who was aware of the specifics of the situation, dismissed the case?
Wonder Why
(5,526 posts)And there are numerous cases of dismissal over and over again that end up in a tragedy because the defendant never learned a lesson.
Then again, why did you personally attack me for what I said instead of just disagreeing with me and explaining why you do so?
If you don't like what I say nor what my reasoning is nor what I believe in, you are free to say what you believe in a reply or just block my posts so you don't see or get upset about them to avoid getting personal about it. And I can do the same for you.
As for me, I don't need to defend myself from your attacks any more. As far as I'm concerned, this issue is ended. I will no longer be seeing your replies.

(19,941 posts)appreciate you fucking up my LOUNGE thread.
Yeah, you'll see this.
Not everything has to be a fucking problem you know.

(19,941 posts)If/when I make it to 80, all bets are off.
I'll start drinking again. I'll be gulping whiskey right from the bottle.
I'll also start smoking again.
Oh, and I won't wear pants. Ever. In fact, I won't wear underwear either.
No pants, no underwear...just a colorful Hawaiian shirt, black socks, and cordovan wing tip shoes.
And I'll dance in the halls of the nursing home.
Maybe I'll twerk too.

(22,749 posts)I thought I could keep that little bit of puke in my mouth after reading your post, but it was a touch more than I could handle.

This judge reminds me of Judge Mathis for some reason.

This explains quite a bit.
