Flow (the movie)

Ive seen this movie 3 x in recent weeks, twice in theater and once streaming online (max.com). The theater experience of course much more vivid - could see more detail in things like how the animals were communicating so much via eye contact.
The first time I just cried buckets, prob cos Im a cat person and know very well what the cat is saying with its vocalizations and body language. That poor cat! He went through so much. But mostly I think tears come cos it expresses SO WELL exactly what so many of us are feeling at this moment in history- that we are just being swept along by powerful currents so much bigger than we are. Some commentary focusses on whether its specifically about global warming - yeah perhaps that's part of it, but I think there's more to it than that., touching upon the cycles and mysteries of life itself. I think I keep rewatching it just cos I love the characters and one of the messages that comes through for me - that sometimes all we've got is each other and our collective efforts working together - seems especially meaningful at this time.

Anyway just curious if anyone else has some thoughts about this movie, what it's meant to you? HOpe it gets and Oscar or 2 this weekend!

My wife and I were moved by Flow just as you were. We are cat people as well so that was one part of our reaction, but you put the rest of the film's larger meaning very well. This film was about the human situation for most of the population. The animals depicted the dilemmas we encounter daily and the various ways to react as we try to stay afloat. Thank you for putting into words my admiration for the film better than I could have!

go with the flow, swamped, etc. The language of metaphor is a powerful thing - it kinda bypasses the cerebral intellectual part of the brain and goes straight to the heart. Maybe thats nother reason why it has such emotional impact.

the artists' failure to get the cat's head/face anatomically correct! At intervals it would
morph into an AI concept of a cat's face!

So far as the story...I thought it was mildly depressing. YMMV
