Well, last week, I got the boot.

First time I didn't have a job since I was 16. Have a second interview scheduled this week and I'll have to move if I get it. Passed on many opportunities in my career because of "family obligations". Wife told me "no more, you have sacrificed way too much". I'm in agreement.

Should have seen it coming, I asked to take some actuarial courses on catastrophes and was told to hold off. Plus the ArcGIS license was coming up for renewal and didn't get word of it being done. And finally, the Business Intelligence team got done with their work on transferring all the data to a new system. And prior to me coming along, they used to do the data pulls and others would synthesize it and send it to the Department of Insurance.

One of the regulators messaged me, he couldn't believe it. He said ever since I got there, everything was more accurate and on time. Even a few I know who work at my previous employer were floored and messaged me.

Told my wife, worst case scenario, move to the family cabin temporarily, get the grants and get my teaching credential. Plenty of opportunites for math or social science teachers. And being an Econ major, I can do either one. Talked to a former manager, he told me if I should get another spot, I should still go after the credential. As I've always been good at training and instructing people.

If anyone needs or know someone who needs an analytics professional, let me know.

I hope your interviews pan out.

There's going to be a glut of people looking for jobs.

We’re already seeing the repercussions. Personally, I won’t be flying anytime soon.

When I was looking through some historical info, noticed they had a person with my title a long time ago, but she was never replaced. Even on thier website, my spot is not relisted. But she dissappeared right after another major California wildfire.

I also noticed people who were on the project to move from one system to the new one were dissappearing. Several hitting me up on Linkedin with the "Open to Work" tag.

I noticed a change in attitude right after the Pallisades and Eaton fires, they lost four billion, maybe more. And I can say that because they didn't send me an NDA.

Actually started applying at a few places the night before because my gut was telling me something was about to happen.
