I just looked it up - the collective noun for a group of capybaras is a herd.

...in 3rd grade. We have been interested in these gentle giants ever since.

Tupi was born on Dec. 3, 2024, and he is the first capybara to be born at the zoo in 24 years.
The reason why the gender wasn’t revealed until four months after Tupi’s birth is due to the fact that capybaras don’t show visible signs of its sex until a mature age, according to the San Diego Zoo. This is true for other rodent species as well.
