The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my wonderful DU family
I hope today presents opportunities to bridge gaps, opportunities to seek understanding and moments that allow us to bypass (no pun intended lol) judgement.
I pray that each of us takes the time to hear what those closest to us needs and strives to provide it.
with love,
John

(1,974 posts)It's going much better this time around. My breathing is much improved and seems stable. I had a nice walk yesterday, tried a second but should have taken pain meds first as my back didn't tolerate much at all.
I feel like my chest is healing and I must confess that I took edibles twice yesterday, once mid afternoon and again at around midnight and they helped me get the best sleep I've had in a month.
I had two different three hour sleep periods and a couple more between an hour-2.
I feel best about that because I've felt and continue to feel physically exhausted but I'm hoping that that's going to be temporary now.
Thank you for asking.
I'll be posting THE update later this morning lol.

(27,208 posts)I'm under a tornado watch until three this afternoon. The wind has already started intermittently howling and the lights have flickered twice.
But I'm still snuggled in bed with my Princess of Floof, Baby Nollie. Life is good.
I hope everyone has a lovely day!

(27,208 posts)She's doing an excellent job. We found out Thursday at the vet she now weighs 2.8 pounds at four months old. I adore her and she's definitely in charge of me.

(36,649 posts)They said her favorite band is U2 and sheβs in love with Bono. So you and I have something in common with a great lady!
Thought youβd enjoy this article from 2011β¦..
The Irish supergroup U2 added a little zero-G to its 360Β° Tour stop in Seattle over the weekend, but what do you expect for a show with a stage that looks like a four-legged spaceship? Bono started out the Earth-to-space exchange by dedicating the song "Beautiful Day" to wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, then mused over what "a man looking down on us from 200 miles up" might say. That was a lead-in to the video recorded by Endeavour commander Mark Kelly (who came back to our beautiful crowded planet last week). Kelly dished out greetings to Seattle concertgoers from the International Space Station. "These people are heroes," Bono said. Then Kelly ended his clip with a quote from David Bowie's "Space Oddity": "Tell my wife I love her very much. ... She knows." The spotlight was tossed back to the band, which launched into "Beautiful Day." The tribute tickled Team Giffords, which is handling the congresswoman's convalescence in Houston. "We agree with Bono," the team wrote in a Facebook update today. "Gabrielle and Mark are heroes."

(1,974 posts)It most certainly cements my appreciation of U2 even further.
Thank you again DD.
Her story is another of those that must contain countless miracles from long before, to long after the actual shooting.
I see things so differently now, everything connects, there aren't many one-offs.

(311 posts)Good afternoon!
I don't much do mornings, at least not until I have enough coffee on board.
Taking it easy today, got a busy week ahead.
Glad to hear you're making progress!
I have definitely heard what those closest to me have to say - they say Meow! I expect you heard the same. We are good staff!
Take care and hoping you can get eased and get your walk done.

(1,974 posts)I am staying in today as it is very windy with a Windchill in the teens.
I'll be moving around in here and pounding the incentivize breathing thingy.
I have gotten more sleep in the last 24 hours than in any 3-4 day stretch in weeks. It feels wonderful!
My Petunia is thrilled to be wrapping herself around my head and comforting me with her purrs. Cuddles is coming for headbutts and his daily pettings and short term cuddles.
I hope you enjoy your day and that you find it rewardingly relaxing as you deserve nothing less.
