Speeding tickets, tell us about yours. I'll go first.

I'll save the 95mph in a 55mph for another time.

I was on my motorcycle and got pulled over by a motorcycle cop doing radar. I gave him my paper work and chat-chat-chat, I said, "how about giving me a break?" He said, Whats the capitol of Vermont? I didn't know, he said, Montpelier. Have gave me a ticket. Fast forward about a year, I was out and about again on the bike and low and behold the same motorcycle cop pulled me over. I was on a different bike, he didn't remember me but, I remembered him. I said, "How about giving me a break? He said, Whats the capitol of Vermont? I said "Montpelier". He said, today is your lucky day and closed up his ticket book, got on his bike and left.

It was actually worth it to hear from family and friends variations on "In that thing?" when I told them.

My favorite was the question "What were you driving?"

That car was a favorite.

A ‘66 Beatle with a fresh engine and (I thought) a clear interstate going up a fairly steep hill. It looked like the perfect place to see what the new engine would do. The patrolman asked if I knew how fast I was going. “No sir” I said, “ the speedometer was pegged out”. Clocked at 83 in a 55 zone, he was kind enough to dial it back to 74 so I didn’t lose my license.

who was stopped by a state trooper in Wisconsin on I-94, where the speed limit is (or was) aggressively enforced. Cop pulls him over, says, "You were really flying, buddy. Lemme see your pilot's license." Guy opens his wallet, hands the trooper his pilot's license. Trooper stares at it for a minute, hands it back and says, "Get outta here!" And that was that.

My crime spree. I got a speeding ticket driving in Kansas on my way to visit my in-laws. The following week I got a speeding ticket in Missouri driving home to Arkansas from the visit. Haven’t had a ticket since.

I got pulled over for driving slow, 30 in a 55 zone. The cop explained to me that sign was the Rt # I was on, not the speed limit.

He then asked me why my friend looked so scared. I told him we just got off Rt 115.

For going 50 in a 35 mph zone..I couldn't believe I broke my record. I was so proud of that record. I went for 50 years without 1 driving ticket, I felt like crying 😢 but I didn't.

I was taking day time classes at the community college in the next town. A long stretch of the road ran along a park in a residential area, with two schools, & the speed limit was 25. Well I live by a park where the limit is also 25 an NO ONE ever goes 25, not even close, so of course as I drove through, I always went 25. It's only two lanes & by the time the road opened to four lanes I turned off there was quite a line of cars behind me & I knew people were flipping me off.

One day I turned off & about 30 seconds later I got pulled over & of course I wondered what for. Well, my registration had expired. Back then they could impound your car for that, if you got that kind of cop. He asked where I was going & I said the college up ahead & he saw my books on the seat. "Okay, I'll let you slide today, but I can't guarantee if you get pulled over by someone else they will, but I have never seen anyone drive that length of road & stay at 25 like you did. Have a nice day, ma'am."

I was on a motorcycle trip up to Minneapolis. Lots of curves and changes in elevation made for a rather spirited ride. It was worth every cent of the $140 fine.

Many decades ago, I was driving down the Jacksonville (Arkansas) Freeway on my way to work when I saw the blue lights in my rearview mirror. I pulled over, wondering what I'd done. Didn't think I'd been speeding or anything. Anyhow, this older Trooper got out of his unit and I had my license and registration and all that handy when he arrived - and he never looked at them. He stood there for the better part of ten minutes telling me what chickenshits (his phrase) the new grads from the police academy were. Then he said, "I just wanted you to know that", got back in his car, and left. I have been scratching my head over it ever since.

Been driving for 43.5 years; never had a moving violation.
I am a "get to speed limit, hit cruise" guy. I have no desire to drive fast.
I've done it in Europe, but I didn't get any thrill from it.
I'll get there when I get there.

But I will tell the story of one time I didn't. I was heading home from my second job, which was at a pizzeria. I was giving a ride to my boss's girlfriend, who also worked there... and she was HOT. The police officer asked me how fast I was going, and this is how it transpired:

Me: I was going 43.

Him: In a 35.

Me: But wasn't it 40? I'd swear the speed limit was 40.

Him: It went down a little while back, and you failed to adjust for the change. Where you going in such a hurry?

Her: (tee-hee) Oh, he's just taking me home, officer!

He looked at her and handed me my license back. He said, you folks be careful.

After it was over I looked at her and said, thank you. She casually said, don't mention it.
