I have a 1960's era Heathkit shortwave radio

Any idea?

If it is worth something that would be a bonus, but I would really like to just get it to someone who appreciated.

I've felt obligated almost to lug it from place to place since my older brother gifted it to me (Nearly 45 years ago..yikes)

1. Old electrical equipment should be powered up by someone

who knows what they're doing. I believe some of the parts, like paper capacitors, will be damaged if given full power all at once after years of sitting. The guys on TV just powering up the old things they find is very misleading. Wish I knew more about it and I hope you find a good home for it.

I will be seeing him tomorrow and will ask him if he knows anything about your radio. Does the radio or manual have a model number on it??

If memory serves me correctly, Heathkit used to come from Radio Shack, but you assembled it yourself.. I will check on that also.

It depends on the overall condition, and it would cost money for her to find an electronics shop that works on CB radios, HAM radios, etc., just to test it out and see what it needs. The cost to fix it, if you can find parts, is where you run into money. Capacitors, tubes, realignment, etc.

I'm in no way trying to steer anyone wrong, that is for sure. I'm just trying to help someone, and may wind up buying it myself as a gift for my cousin. If for any reason I don't buy it, she is free to do what she wants to with it. Actually, she is free to do what she wants to with it right now, but we are discussing a deal via PM so PayPal addresses, real names and home addresses are not out in the open.

By all means, if you, or anyone else, is interested, please feel free to PM her and make an offer. The way I see it is that it's "first come, first served & money talks".
