(8,655 posts)of varying ages from very early 1900s through the 60s. There might be some earlier. I haven't had a chance to look through them yet. There were some walking liberty coins and a few old half-dollars that were so worn it was hard to tell what they were.
Her ex took them as payment for a job and was convinced they are worth a very silly amount of money. I told her to get them appraised for the divorce.
If anyone is interested, I will share anything unusual.

(190 posts)The US itself didn't get into the currency printing business until the Civil War. Before that, paper money was issued by private banks. It is possible that private banks in places like Texas or California issued notes in peso denominations, but the Republic of Texas government issued dollar-denominated notes (which were essentially worthless).
Saying that, if you could give a description of your note, it would help in identifying it.
