For centuries, lighthouses and their keepers helped ships avoid catastrophe. Thanks to GPS, theyre all but obsolete. But that doesnt mean you still cant live in one of these cherished structures and enjoy a hermetic existence with a great waterfront view: the U.S. government is giving away several lighthouses and selling others.

Lovely painting. If I were an artist I'd love to paint them, and perhaps live in one. I just read this lighthouse story. I have an aunt who collects lighthouse miniatures and artwork.
