I saw him once in Phoenix - he was completely fucked up on something. People were throwing pills onstage and he was taking them. End a short, rambling set with him laying on the stage practically passed out.
Another time he was supposed to play and got busted for heroin at the airport on his way to the gig.

He was brilliant, but drugs took a heavy toll on him.
