Alec Baldwin and John Mauceri in Conversation - For the Love of Music

A great conversation between two classical music lovers who come from different places but genuinely respect and enjoy each other’s perspective. If you need a refreshing civilizational time-out you could do much worse than this.

I'm a colleague of John Mauceri and he's not only a superlative musician, he's a friendly and funny man.

This video was great!

I’m not surprised; he’s a true pleasure to listen to. He says some things about conducting in this discussion that really enhanced my understanding of the art, ie everything from the first notes is done with the conclusion of the piece in mind and just simple things about why you even need a conductor and when a conductor became necessary in classical music (blame Beethoven). I’m looking forward to reading his book.
