and its such an overwhelming experience. I was listening to Haydns symphony 100 military the other day and near the end of the 2nd movement, there it was, the trumpet call that begins the 5th. An homage to Haydn perhaps. Mahler used snippets of other folks music, like rap artists today. One of the original samplers. Mahlers music is incredibly unique; no other music sounds like his. My home orchestra is the Buffalo Philharmonic and unfortunately no Mahler this season.
