Leon Russell - Tight Rope

I grew up in Austin, TX. After graduation from the University if Texas, I was drafted into the Army for the Vietnam War in 1970.

When I left, the music was psychedelic with the Bubble Puppy and the two local bands, The Conqueroo and Shiva’s Head Band playing at the Vulcan Gas Company.

When I was discharged in 1972 and returned home, I discovered the music had turned on its head. Suddenly it was Cross Country with B W Stevenson, Steve Fromholz, Rusty Weir, Willie Nelson, and Leon Russel playing at Armadillo World Headquarters

My mind was indeed blown. For those who don’t believe in evolution, I offer music as proof of the process.

Local knowledge: when I was in high school, Rusty Weir played with a band called the Wig. They wore Beatles wigs and played rock & roll.
