Of course with any old musician telling tales of how they made it in the business, you have to take things with a grain of salt... But if he was completely full of it someone would have called him out, and this remains a pretty well distributed anecdote so may be mostly true.

The organ was the thing I really liked in the late 60s early 70s music. I made Like a Rolling Stone a song that haunted you. Something that stuck in your mind. Not irritating like an earworm but a lingering memory. I think this happens with artists in all mediam. It's the messing around with something new that is creation
