Very herky-jerky, especially with that main riff being in 15/4 time. (7 beats then 8)
Then it's so random & chaotic during the solo.

Surprised to hear that.
It's really easy to count out.
The first guitar chime lasts a count of 7. Then the new chime is regular time. It's an 8 count.
7+8=15.
Having some way to time each note is necessary for people playing together in an odd time signature. So knowing that riff starts on the 8th beat makes it more intuitive to play. Just have to have another touchstone to go all they to 15.
Without some keys, odd time signatures could easily cause a song to be a trainwreck.
