"Beat The Clock" The McCoys.

I was laying in treatment yesterday with my headphones on, listening to internet radio as I often do, when a song played that made me sit up and see who it was.

"Beat The Clock" was a song from 1966 by The McCoys as a follow up to their kitschy #1 hit "Hang On Sloopy". The McCoys was an Indiana group fronted by the inimitable Richard Zehringer, later known as Rick Derringer. They formed as a return salvo to the British Invasion, an attack of catchy pop songs that captivated the hordes of teens looking for something their parents didn't like.

"Beat The Clock" never even charted in the top 40 for the group, but that was probably because of the stiff competition for airplay and 45 sales in the mid '60s.
