Related: About this forumAerosmith cancels tour and Detroit show, announces "heartbreaking" tour retirement
https://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/music/brian-mccollum/2024/08/02/aerosmith-retirement-detroit-little-caesars-arena/74654847007/In a dramatic finale for one of rock music's mainstays, Aerosmith has ended its five-decade touring career amid lingering vocal issues for front man Steven Tyler.
The Boston rock band announced Friday it will no longer perform live, canceling a farewell tour that was set to start in September with a Jan. 4 stop at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena.
The troubles started last fall: Tyler, now 76, suffered a fractured larynx three shows into the group's Peace Out Tour, forcing postponement of the goodbye run. A rebooted tour itinerary, including the LCA show, was announced several months later.
Bummer. Sucks getting old, chapter 1 million+. Not my favorite band by any means, but they certainly left a notable mark on rock music. First band this small town boy ever saw in concert (other than the openers, Kansas), back on their Get Your Wings tour.

(4,925 posts)1. We've had tickets for two consecutive New Year's Eve concerts.
Last year's was postponed to this year. This year cancelled. We never got to see this band play Boston. Very sad.

They were tight and had a good sound live, once they were sober. Song writing suffered then, though.

...there are conflicts as to the exact sales numbers. I see Aerosmith, Eagles & Metallica as the biggest US bands ever.
Either way, Aerosmith is one of the 3 and the album sales estimates range from 140 to 155 million units. That's amazing.
I feel Steven's pain. My range is 80% of what it used to be, and my falsetto worse than that. We all lose something when we get older, I guess.
