does this use the polar coordinates function? that is something I have on my to-do list, which is getting longer not shorter!

i started with a photo i took o the veil nebula
removed the stars using star exterminator plug in (a plug in i used for a lot of my astro photos,it lets me edit the nebula and stars seperatly)

then i duplicated the nebula and rotated it 20 degrees. i used the lighted layer blend mode
i basically repeated this 20 times although i had to sometimes edit the intermediate results to keep the background black
over all its 18 layers each rotated 20 degrees to make the full circle
