Jupiter II (four moons visible tonight)

Canon EOS R8
Sigma 100-400mm lens

The Jupiter II from "Lost In Space"

In these screen shots from the TV series, the top right and bottom two photos were shot on location at Trona Pinnacles, near Ridgecrest, CA, using a model and forced-perspective filming technique. If my memory serves me well, Grumpy Old Guy, one our fine photographers, posted some of his photos from Trona Pinnacles a few years back. Visiting the site is on my bucket list.

Excellent photographs, I never knew Jupiter, is so noteworthy. I do remember the show, "Lost In Space", and the Jupiter II, Space Ship, from that show. Thanks for posting.

is how I learned to remember them when I was a kid--along with the now-outdated My Very Excited Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas

Thanks for the pics and memories.

Wonderful capture.

Loved the screen shots too, even though I never saw the show. Wonderful addition to your own splendid photo!

I watched the show when I was a child. I was about the same age as the protagonist, Will Robinson, when the show premiered. The landscape of Trona Pinnacles fascinated me as much as the spaceship.

My last trip there was looking for wildflowers.

People come from all over to shoot the night sky there. I'll have to find one of my Milky Way photos from there. I'll post them tomorrow.

It really is a cool place, way out in the Northern Mojave Desert, seven miles down a dirt road, and about an hour from Death Valley. The little town of Trona was actually the birthplace of the famous Twenty Mule Teams.

Great job on the Jupiter and moons shot. I've never been able to get that one.

I think you posted a Milky Way photo from Trona a while back.

I took two sets of photos, three hours apart, of Jupiter and moons tonight. In the earlier set there are four moons visible. In the later set one moon has disappeared behind Jupiter.
