(10,618 posts)9. Yes, it is free. Two considerations: the link opens to a very busy page; however, at top left
is a Red NEW POST box. That opens to a CHOOSE PHOTOS drag and drop files box.
When your image appears, slide your cursor onto the image for Copy URL. Click on that, it'll say Copied! and paste into DU's Discussion text box. This, however, is my second concern. Image Chest attaches its own URL to a photo, whereas postimages copies the same one as on your image. Made it a little harder for me to keep track of what I'd listed in the text box. Still, it appears to work.
